Matariki.

Matariki is the mother of the 6 daughters that are the stars in the sky. Here is a picture of them.

The seven sisters names are Uru-a rangi ,Tupu-a-rangi , Tupu-a-nuku  ,Waipuna-a-rangi, Waita, Waiti and Matariki. I learnt that Matariki is celebrated every year in May and ends in late June. The date of Matariki changes every year.

Uru-a-rangi is the youngest out of the sisters and Tupu-a-nuku is the eldest. Waita and Waiti are twins and they always work toghther .
I also learnt that Matariki is a special celebration to New Zealand .
I liked learning about Matariki and if you want to find out any information here is a link to a website abot matariki Click here

  1. Are you sure you have placed the star names in the right order? You could check with the Auckland Astronomical Centre
